New pay = current pay × (1 + raise percentage / 100).
How to use this pay raise calculator
Enter current annual gross pay and a raise percentage. Negative percentages can illustrate a salary reduction.
Formula and calculation method
New pay = current pay × (1 + raise percentage / 100).
Worked example
At $50,000 annually, a 5% raise is $2,500 and produces a new annual rate of $52,500.
Understanding the result
A percentage raise is calculated using the current base salary, not the desired future salary. Comparing the absolute dollar difference with the new annual and monthly gross pay makes the effect easier to understand.
When to use this calculator
When evaluating a compensation change, consider other elements such as bonuses, retirement contributions and work hours. A nominal raise may also differ from a change in purchasing power after inflation.
What the results do not include
This tool does not account for taxes, promotions with noncash benefits, bonuses or cost-of-living changes.
